Schedule For August 2&3, 2008!
Saturday:
Ventura County Faire Parade – Theme- “Meet you at the faire!”
You must be at float location by 9am! Parade starts at 10am sharp!
Location of Float to be announced week before parade!
You may dress up in costume or not! Whatever you prefer to do! Please Remember to bring Sunscreen!! Snacks and Drinks will be provided for all parade attendees!
Workshop Attendees will bring a period stew or soup! (Electric Provided for Crock Pots)
Bread and Salad will be provided, included in workshop donation price.
Sodas for Purchase only!!! ($0.50 each)
2:30- Workshop 1- Banners and Flags-Educator: Joseph Dyer
This workshop will answer all your questions on Flags and banners! Who had them, why they had them and who did make them! Making it easy recognizing their meanings and how to re-act to them! As well, how to make your own flag/banners to have fun with at faire! Especially Battle Pageant! Hands on part will include everyone making their very own flag to hang on a stick or garb at faire! As well, we will be face-painting period Flags/Banners on faces! Getting everyone in the mood for Battle pageant! What fun for everyone!
3:30- 15 Minute Break
This Workshop will not only give everyone a list of rules to go by on the battle field that we all can agree is needed here in the South! As well, what battle pageants are really about! What really happens during one, why they had them and who attended them! This workshop will include something for everyone to do! All participants wanting to learn the Battle routine (kids are welcomed) will need to have toe covered shoes, hand gloves (leather preferred) and battle ready weapon (children wood/plastic/foam weapons aloud only- All kids 12 and under need to have some type head helmet- Bike/skating helmet works great!)! All others not wanting to do battle will learn ideas for props to bring to battle pageant, colorful things to say during the pageant and many other great things to know to make your Next Battle Pageant great for everyone!
Hands on part of workshop other than battle routine are prop crafts to make before battle pageant and a game of period Cursing! You’ll not want to miss this workshop!
This workshop will get you in the mood and know how for telling your own tails at faire! You’ll learn who your famous story writers/tellers of the 1500-1600 are! What stories where told over and over again and that we should all know! As well, what your own tail/story should have in it to make it great and easy for quick improv story telling at faire...or just around your campfire! Either way you will leave this workshop ready to tell a tale or make up your own!
Hands on part will include everyone helping write a bit of a story! Kids who cant write yet will color their stories. Everyone will get up and act out their part of story written or colored! What great Improv fun! Look forward to telling some tales with you!

6: pm- Workshops end for the day! See you Sunday at 10:30!
6:30- Birthday cake and Ice Cream- “Trevor Marks Birthday!”
Sunday:
8am – Early Bird Breakfast!!
(If you plan to attend the breakfast, please bring a food/drink contribution!)
Braiding and Knot work is a must for all renaissance re-enactors! In this workshop you will learn the knots you should know and the basics of braiding! You will learn why you should know these things. How to apply them to your day at faire! No worries for the advanced braid/knot know how’re! We have advanced braids and knots, having something new for all to learn!
Hands on part, includes making your own braided Faire belt and knot Favor for garb or gift! Making this fun Hands on workshop with knowledge that will help you make every day at faire better and easier for yourself!
(Please bring a lunch or we have lunch establishments available close at hand!)
In this workshop you will learn “courtly” interaction, how to approach a noble and how to interact with different levels of hierarchy. As well, what certain body languages meant during the time period!! Well… for the most part we will spend 45 minutes learning hands on how to either insult or complement each other using, renaissance style jesters and body language! This workshop will leave everyone with a smile and with a must know knowledge for reenacting the Renaissance Days!
1:45- 15 Minute Break
Yes! He’s Back! Jewels improv workshop can’t be missed! You'll find tools that you can use before faire and during faire! As well, guides on how to build a better faire character. We have extra time set a side for a long round of “Bibity Bibity Bop! A must know game to warm up with for before faire...and well during faire! With loads of fun for all ages! Getting everyone in the mood for some faire improv fun! You'll Not want to miss this workshop!

3:30- End of Workshop Weekend! Everyone Drive Safe!
